ADSR4 - #2 - Cabin Fever

Challenge #2 was posted by Elemental Scraps on Tuesday...

This challenge is an intersection. This means you need to work collaboratively on this project! 2 racers / 1 final product!

Cabin Fever
(interpret this as you will, but it must be evident that this is the thought/theme behind your page!)

Must include:
3 photos
4 papers only (no more or less)
8 different elements - at least 1 must be acrylic
2 different fonts
Must have a title, and journaling (which must be visible - if it is not readable, please include in your description)

Of course, as with any challenge, there were TONS of questions and clarifications.

• As ES did NOT Specify which partner must do which part of the LO, as long as you both work together and contribute to the LO in some fashion you can divide up the work as you see fit.
• YES....REALLY....JUST ONE LO. Which means only ONE LO and ONE Link are posted in the gallery and your team thread.
• If you want to work on half and send it to your partner, the easiest way is to save as a flattened png or jpg file and uploading to a place like 4shared or mediafire. If you want to be able to have your partner insert items UNDER something for clustering purposes, you can save your LO in parts....the top half and the bottom half. This way your partner can add layering if they choose.
• NO Sending flattened files is NOT Pirating
• Another good and useful idea is to see if you both have the same kit, or if you are like me and scrap from multiple kits, the same several kits and work together in IM...ex. Send flattened preview of what you have so far and have your partner tell you what elements from the kit you both have she wants and where and you apply them.
• Have one partner supply the photos, colors, title and journaling and the other partner does the actual work.
• NO REALLY Sending flattened files truly is NOT PIRATING
• An acrylic element is one that is clear and epoxy (Atomic Cupcake sells an epoxy action if you so desire to make your own)
• Cabin Fever, for those lost in translation is this: Think 3 kids cooped up in the house for a week, unable to go outside because its pouring rain every day. That feeling you and the kids have by day 4? CABIN FEVER!! The desperate and almost physical need to get out of the house and DO something but being unable to due to weather, climate, temperature, money etc. HTH!!
• PAPERS as Clarified by Angie: IF You use a paper and clip it to an item such as a FONT....it then becomes an ALPHA. It does not count as a paper or a font.
• 8 Different elements means 8 DIFFERENT ELEMENTS. 8 Buttons in varying shades, colors or styles are STILL BUTTONS. You need to use 8 unique elements. You CAN however use multiples of the SAME element and it will only count as ONE of your 8 elements. For example:4 buttons, 2 arrows, 6 brads, 3 flowers, 1 staple, 4 ribbons, 2 rick racks, 3 acrylic circles.
• Using a 4th photo blended into the background is open to artistic interpretation and will be considered paper so we don't have to eliminate anyone.
• Journaling is a personal account of something. Not a definition, song lyric, or poem you didn't write.
• An Alpha is NOT considered an ELEMENT or a FONT according to Angie!
• The Challenge asks for 3 photos...It does not say they have to be different or the same. As long as you have 3 photos on the page you are fine!
• Blended Papers - Just make sure you explain this in your credits and list the papers used!
• Papers for MAT or other object - YES you can but then you will need to make sure you list it in your credits properly. If you use a paper to make a mat, it can be considered a PAPER or an ELEMENT. YOU will need to choose which, and adjust for the requirements accordingly.
• For those of you saying you have no kids or don't get cabin fever due to the fabulous weather you have....THINK outside the box. The definition posted above was for those who's native language is not English and were having trouble translating what cabin fever literally meant.
• You may ONLY use what is asked for...NO MORE and NO LESS. That means you can not use 9 elements or 5 photos or 6 papers (the only exception is if you are using papers to make an element such as a journaling mat - then you must decide if it is going in your credits as a paper or an element and adjust for the remaining requirements).
• Templates are NOT elements and do not count as such!
• Overlays/stroke around photos are NOT Elements. You can not count them as such!
• Alpha's are NOT considered elements. You may use them but can not count them!
• Pre-made Clustered items (on paper or elements) are counted as that one item. If you build a cluster then you count each piece accordingly (see #11).
• JPGs of previous LO are considered a PHOTO.

This is the prize for completing the challenge...


My partner and I came up with a reasonable plan...I supplied the photos, title and journaling and she scrapped the page. This is what we came up with...

Journaling Reads:
On this particular day, my husband and oldest
son went to work, leaving the rest of us at
home with no transportation. Though I would
have been content remaining indoors scrapping
Christmas photos all day, Robert and Kat got
bored quickly. After an hour of listening to
them mope and sigh through the house, I told
them to find something to do. Since Robert
only had a few days left before returning to
college in Michigan, they decided we needed to
do a photoshoot in the backyard. It was one
of my favorite moments during Robert's visit.
