What's "Bugging" Me Today...

In all actuality, I've not seen a bug in or around the fridge on my patio since late Monday night. I'm hoping that with the removal of all of the stuck on food and water along with spraying inside the fridge every couple of hours since Monday afternoon we're on our way to eliminating the bug problem. As a way to ensure they are completely gone, we are purchasing bug traps and gel to place all along the bottom of the fridge where the motor is located.

I'll also be making my mom's recipe for "bug killing balls"!! (Seriously...it's what she called it and I haven't the energy to come up with another name...ROFLMAO!!) I don't know how or why it works, but it's the reason why we've never had a bug problem in this house.

ITEMS NEEDED:
breathing mask (to avoid breathing in dust while mixing)
thick rubber gloves (like used for cleaning/washing dishes)
goggles (just as precautionary measure)
old measuring cup you can throw away after use
plastic bowl to mix in you can throw away after use
wax paper
ziplock bags

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup boric acid
1 cup flour
1 small to medium sized onion (run through food processor until liquefied)
1 cup powdered sugar (or you can substitute for cocoa powder)
1/2 cup water (though you will likely not need all of it)

DIRECTIONS:
Put on gloves, breathing mask & goggles.
Roll out wax paper. (Make sure to place out of reach of children and pets)
In disposable plastic bowl, mix boric acid, flour, sugar and onion juice with your hands.
Add just enough water to mixture to give it the consistency of bread dough.
Pinch and roll into small balls (the size of marbles).
Place on wax paper until all dough has been rolled into balls.

HOW TO USE:
Place in corners of cabinets, under sinks, in drawers, under appliances, under and behind furniture, in bathrooms, or in any areas where you have spotted bugs. (Caution: make sure these areas are inaccessible to children and/or pets!!)

If you have any "bug killing balls" left, place in ziplock bag to keep soft/moist for later use.
Replace used "bug killing balls" once they dry out/turn hard.
