Waiting For ADSR3 Grand Prize Winner...

The ADSR3 ended this past Sunday. It was an awesome 6 weeks that challenged me out of my comfort zone, taught me new ways to scrap, and gave me the opportunity to meet some incredible ladies that share my scrapping passion.

ADSR3 - #11 - Winged Things

Today, challenge #11 started for the ADSR3!! This time KBandFriends was the host!! After all of the previous challenges, I found this one soooo easy!! The theme is "Take Wing." We want you to spread your wings - literally - by making a layout with wings in it. The wings can be on a bird, butterfly or insect. Or, the wings can be used separately. There is no restriction on the theme of the layout. It just has to have wings in it somewhere.
This is what I came up with...and because it's my fave photo, I had to use it again...lol

Due to # 9 falling on Easter, AND the host site dealing with a trojan virus that freaked out half the racers cause their antivirus programs didn't catch it (thankfully I have AVAST! and it immediately caught it when I opened the site...) this challenge was hosted by NDISB again. This time our challenge was to: scrap an altered art page. It can be about anything you want. You choose the subject, you choose the products. The only requirement is that it be in the altered art style. Simple enough!! Especially since I've had lots of experience with ATC's (artist trading cards) and my altered rooms. This time, though, I went with something a little more "fantasy"...lol

#10 came out today...but it's another ROADBLOCK and asking for the team member that didn't complete #6 to do this one. That gets me off the hook...lol...but it does require journaling which isn't something my partner is comfortable with. However, I did give her some great tips about making it easy on her...instead of writing several paragraphs about a particular subject...to make a list of things that scare her, or a list of what she would do with a million dollars. After I mentioned that, she was like, "OMG, now I'm not so terrified and know exactly what I'm going to do". I can't wait to see what she comes up with!! *giggles*

This Week's ADSR3 Challenges

I can't believe I've made it to Challenge7 & 8!! Normally, by now, real life has gotten in the way and I end up having to drop out of these types of challenges early. (Maybe having a partner helps...I don't want to let her down AND I really am having fun in stretching my mind in new ways to scrap.)

HOWEVER, this week was TOUGH!! Challenge 7 literally brought me to tears while reading the rules...

Team Member #1 - ONE DESIGNER - MESSY - No Journaling
Using the correct number of items as listed below, you must scrap using only ONE designers products. Pick your designer carefully and make sure they have all of the things listed on the list below, remember only ONE designer. (this does not include the use of drop shadow actions but does include the use of templates, mattes, shape files etc.) Once you choose your ONE designer you will be required to scrap in a Hodge Podge style, a little artsy and messy. No Journaling, ONLY TITLE WORK.

Use the following items: (Please remember this layout requires all pieces to be from the same designer)

1 - paper (only ONE paper, no other paper for mattes page borders, nothing)
2 - ribbons
3 - buttons
4 - glitter/gems/sequins or bling pieces
5 - frames
6 - pictures
7 - alphas (different but from the same designer unless created by you, we made an exception to this but alphas cannot be made of paper.)
8 - flowers/stars/cardboard pieces
9 - staples
10 - random elements of choice (all by the same designer, no more no less)

Team Member #2 - MULTI DESIGNER - CLEAN - Journaling "A letter"
Also using the correct number of items listed below, you must scrap using NO MORE than 2 items from the same deisgner. You will need to use many different designers for this layout. Again, no more than 2 items from the same deigner. You may use collab kits and mega kits as long as no more than two items come from any one designer in the kit. This layout needs to be done in a CLEAN style. Use of negative space is important however you will still need to use all of items listed below in the correct number assigned, so plan carefully. An alpha is considered one element, so you may use more than two of the same alpha pieces for any title work you may be doing. This layout has a theme attched so please read the journaling challenge slowly. The pictures MUST go with your layout and you MAY use stock photos or other pictures that clearly helps express the idea of the Layout. Please remember this is to be a clean minimal style layout but must also contain ALL of the items listed below, this includes the random elements of choice. You cannot choose to not use 5, you MUST use 5.

1 - photo matte
2 - staples
3 - pictures
4 - stitches
5 - random elements of choice
6 - flowers/stars/cardboard pieces
7 - papers (may be pieced) - your photo matte is NOT included in this count.
8 - buttons
9 - glitter/gems/sequins or bling pieces
10 -no less than 10 lines of journaling (may be more but no less)

Journaling: In this layout we are asking you to write a letter to your 16-17 year old self. As an adult now, give yourself advice on things you remember happening during this time or shortly after that would have been beneficial THEN. You may include information about your family and situations now to inspire hope. (You may also include pictures of now if that fits in with your journaling.) Picture cannot be the same image three times, must be three different pictures.

ACK!! I spent 7 full hours searching through all of my scrap files on my laptop, CD's and External HD...only to discover that I didn't have all of the required elements to do #1. Tears flowed and I stressed...finally contacted my partner. I ended up going with #2 since my partner had all of the required elements from one designer to do #1 and she doesn't feel comfortable at journaling. *WHEW* That took a load off of me!!

Took me 2 1/2 days, but once completed, it was definitely worth it!!

Next was challenge 8...
Scrap about your most memorable vacation or trip. It can be memorable for being everything you dreamed of, like your honeymoon or that magical Disney cruise, or it can be memorable because the airlines lost your luggage, the car rental place gave you a car that broke down on the way to the hotel that gave your room away to someone else because you were late checking in and the only room they have left is the one next to the ice machine and it's making noise all night long.

And because we love a good challenge, here are your restrictions:
1) Use only B&W Photo(s)
2) Do not use any travel themed elements or papers (i.e planes, trains or automobiles, postcards, etc.)
3) Use only ONE word as your title
4) You must incorporate the lyrics to some song in your journaling somehow. You don't have to include the whole song, just a line or even a few words. Just let us know what song it is in your credits.

Though still challenging not being able to use "travel themed elements or papers" it one was a LOT easier than number 7!! ROFL!! I chose to scrap about our 2 week visit to Chicago in 2002, because it was the last place that we all went together as a family.

HELLO & ADSR3 - #6 - Roadblock: Spin-A-Lift

My ADSR3 partner (missLilly) introduced me to a new messenger this morning...HELLO. I must say that I'm in love with it due to the KEWL drag & drop feature of sharing photos & scrap layouts INSTANTLY. I've had other messengers that allowed photo sharing, but it always took forever, and I never had good luck with them. The only drawback that I see having this messenger is trying to convert all of my buddies on the other messengers to switch. muwahahahah

ADSR3 #6 challenged one member of each team to take a layout from their partner and turn it 90 degrees left or right, a full 180 degrees, OR flip it horizontally or vertically to come up with a brand new composition. THEN switch the subject matter so it's opposite of the original page. This is what I came up with...

My Interview With Chocolate

Today began week 3 and challenge #5 of ADSR3 (Amazing Digi Scrap Race - Season 3). The challenge...complete a project that features an inteview with an inanimate object including a minimum of 4 questions & answers.

I had numerous ideas...my stove, my bathroom scales, my washing machine, my steam cleaner, my laptop, my medicine and even the clothes in my closet, but what I finally settled on was one of my addictions. CHOCOLATE!!

JOURNALING READS:

SSTPSP, Permits, ADSR3 & Wal*Mart

It's official!! I passed STEP-ONE of SSTPSP!! *doing happy dance* Most of the lessons I already knew how to do, but always a good thing to refresh your knowledge. I've downloaded lessons 26-50 and will begin them tomorrow.


...are in order to Kat!! Though she had to take the test twice, she passed and is now an official permit carrier!! Just in time too, her Driver's Ed class will be moving from books to behind the wheel in the next few weeks. *sigh*


I completed #4 Challenge for ADSR3 yesterday. Took me most of the day, as my PSP kept crashing on me when I tried to add my journaling. After restarting a few times, it finally let me finish. *whew* Then just as I was nearly complete, I went back to review the challenge when I noticed they had removed the 4-only element requirement...so went back and added more!! *giggles*

So here's the challenge recipe for you:
1 Large Picture
(at least 1 large picture, may use more than 1 pic)
Some blending
(ie: overlay, multiply, color burn, transparency, etc.)
Spill it Journaling
at least 1/4 of the page must be journaling
Note:
We have decided to remove the elements requirement.
If you have already done your layout, I'm very sorry for any inconvenience.
So, go wild (or not) and do whatever ya want element-wise.




JOURNALING READS:
I can't remember the month but the date was the 3rd and the year was 1989. The only reason I remember this much is because I was pregnant with my son Robert, and it was “CHECK DAY” (social security) for my Momma. Every month, on that day, we had the same routine, pay all bills, go somewhere for lunch, purchase enough groceries for the month, then go home. This day was like all of the rest that had come before and after, with the exception of our last stop. We went to WAL*MART for the groceries, because Momma liked to sneak into the Garden Center and grab a few flowers. This was the one luxury that Momma allowed herself.

We’d been there for an hour, filling 2 buggies with groceries. Matt took turns riding in the 2 buggies or walking beside them. Momma grabbed a few flowers from the Garden Center and then we went to check-out. I teased Momma about them through check-out, loading the car, and driving home. We both laughed, until I adjusted my rear-view mirror and noticed Matt’s car seat was EMPTY!!

I slammed on the breaks, made a U-TURN, and raced back to WAL*MART. I tried to remember where I'd seen him last. I ran to the Garden Center. He wasn't there!! I began to panic, but just before I freaked, I heard his laughter. I found him sitting on the floor, two isles over, in the Toy Section, playing with several cars. He never knew we had left him!!
