Christmas has come and gone and I've managed to keep myself occupied so I don't have time to sit around and get depressed. It's the same every year...the excitement gets built up the day before, the presents get opened, the food gets eaten, and then the blues takes over.
This year I didn't let it happen. First of all, hubby was scheduled to work Christmas Day, so we planned to do "Christmas" on Christmas Eve. I got up early and cooked, we had dinner and opened gifts, then hung out the rest of the day watching Christmas movies. The day of Christmas, I got up early again to make my Christmas Sausage Bread, only to learn that hubby didn't have to work after all. They called to tell him that he wasn't needed. So we watched more movies and nibbled on all sorts of food throughout the day while Kat and OS went to exchange gifts with their friends.
By evening, kids back home, I decided to scrap more pages for the 40 Days of Scrapping Purpose Challenge at Divine Digital. Though each day gets tougher for me to accomplish, I'm so glad that I signed up for this one...it's really making me think differently about the way I scrap my family's memories!!
Day 6 is about what inspires me...

12 Days Of Christmas...Gift 7 (And Another New LO!!)
After sleeping 'til noon yesterday, my body wouldn't let me rest last night, so what do you think I did to pass the time?? I SCRAPPED!! Of course, I didn't scrap just anything...I entered another challenge. This time it's the 40 Days Of Scrapping Purpose at Divine Digital. Yesterday happened to be the first day...all about The Artist Within Me.

The journaling reads:
Creating a layout goes beyond
the doodles and the swirls.
It's a way to express the thoughts I had
when I was a little girl.
Each of the items on the page
were chosen with the utmost care.
Every paper and every element
has a reason for being there.
It's not about how the page will look
filled with flowers, doodles and bees
But how well I've been able to recreate
all of my memories.

12 Days Of Christmas...Gift 2
It's day 2 and I'm a little late getting this one out today...had a very busy day yesterday buying groceries. You would think it would be a simple thing of just going to the grocery store and grabbing what we need...but not that easy when you use sale papers and coupons!! *giggles* Seriously...a total of 5 stores, but made out with enough food to last us for a month all for $82.35!!
My day ended with another trip to pick up items I found on FreeCycle. This time to Alabaster (AL)...to pick up an office chair, crafting supplies, a rug, a sailor figurine, 3 nautical pictures, 3 porcelain dolls, a 2 tier desert rack and an enormous hurricane globe. This trip was not as expected...I was given directions to the woman's house and arrived at 6:18pm. My daughter rang the doorbell, and I knocked. When no one answered the door, we went back to the car and waited...for nearly an hour. I started to get worried, thinking maybe she just had not made it home from work yet, and was still in traffic. Not having a cell phone, we left and called her from a payphone down the street. SHE WAS AT HOME THE ENTIRE TIME!! *giggles, snorts, giggles* She didn't hear us at the door, because she was upstairs doing something. We all had a great laugh out of it!! *giggles*
Today Kat and I are spending time at the Galleria in Hoover (AL) in search of THE PERFECT Christmas gifts.

LONG BLOG POST...(With Photos!!)
SO MANY things have happened since Saturday...so I have LOTS to share!! SATURDAY MORNING:
Kat, her friend Asa & I headed out at 9am to catch the Hueytown (AL) Christmas Parade. Because we arrived early, we found a close parking spot, grabbed a "to-go" breakfast from McDonald's, set up our chairs and waited for the parade to begin. Here are a few of my fav photos...

SATURDAY AFTERNOON:
Once the parade was over, we headed home to drop off our parade goodies, then were off ot Hoover (AL) to visit Aldridge Gardens and Hoover Park before picking up OS at work, and dropping Kat & Asa at the church for an evening of Teen/Youth Christmas Caroling.
SATURDAY EVENING:
Hubby got home around 4pm...just enough time to grab a bite to eat and change his clothes for the two of us to drive out to Tuscaloosa (AL) to see Tuscaloosa Christmas Afloat @ Black Warrior River. Though we were 20 minutes late, it started to rain AND we missed the fireworks...we still got to see all of the boats on their return trip up the river and I was able to get some great photos!!

Was so exhausted by the time we got home, I passed out!!
SUNDAY:
Hubby and I took a trip to Leeds (AL) to pick up a white daybed that I found on FreeCycle. The mattress will need to be replaced, but the frame is perfect!!
After the Sunday night church service, I had to drive out towards Bankhead Lake (near Alliance, Alabama) to take Asa home. By the time I made the 2 hour round trip, it was nearly 11pm...another exhausting day leaving me to pass out the minute my head hit the pillow.
MONDAY:
I got up early to pick up my friend Tiff and her two boys (J & K) near Caffee Junction (AL). The entire afternoon was spent in my den snapping photos, cooking/eating, and laughing at something cute the boys were doing.

Now I'm off to catch up on blogs, sort through email, and try to find some ME TIME to relax after such an exciting weekend!!
