Had it not been for the concern of a dear friend there is no telling HOW LONG I would have gone without updating this blog. For the most part, I update my personal blog everyday, but by the time I run through email, go through the morning routine with our crazy zoo, have breakfast, clean house, work in the kitchen, cook dinner then go through the evening routine with our crazy zoo, I have no time left for ME.
As quickly as possible, I'll recap what's new...
KITCHEN REMODEL:
All walls textured and painted
Vinyl words installed on doorway
Carpet ripped off floor. Plywood temporarily painted
85% of cabinets painted inside and out
I still need to install laminated tile flooring.
I'm waiting on the arrival of 12 vintage cast iron shelf brackets so I can install my shelves.
Still need to take down ceiling fan and clean it, and paint ceiling.
OUR CRAZY ZOO IS GROWING:
At last count, we now have...
INSIDE:.................OUTSIDE:
2 Female Cats.........2 Female Cats
1 Male Husky...........3 Male Cats
1 Male Dachshund....8 Growing Kittens
1 Male Parakeet.......3 Newborn Kittens
1 Female Parakeet
And I'm about to be the new owner of a Male Cockatiel...yup...just start calling me the ZOO KEEPER!! ROFL!!
I'm still doing my Meal Planning Mondays, making sense of all the jumbled mess in my brain on Ten Thought Tuesdays, donating items to the thrift store on Waste Not Wednesdays, creating a list on Thankful Thursdays, and running around like a lunatic on Frantic Fridays...just lately I've been forgetting to do them HERE. *blushes*
As for my scrapping/designing passion...it's still growing with leaps and bounds. I'm working on several scrap pages, but nothing finished yet. I have, however, designed and finished 2 paper packs, 1 fall kit, finishing a winter kit & got something magical in the works for Christmas. Still don't know when I'll be in a store again, but hoping to hear something real soon having signed and mailed off all my paperwork not long ago. *giggles*

My Home Is My Haven (Day 11 of 40 Days of Scrapping Purpose)
Created for Day 11 of 40 Days of Scrapping Purpose challenge. We were asked to scrap a page about why our home is our haven, using journaling, at least one photo and two brushes.
JOURNALING READS:
I'm a homebody, and because of this reason my home has become my haven. Over the years I've searched through magazines and have watched "do-it-yourself" shows for new ideas. Now, each room has become a reflection of who I am. They express my creativity, my love of family, and my passion for turning trash into treasured objects. So great is my passion, that I could get lost for hours in a single project. Finding new projects to keep me occupied is the best therapy of tuning out the craziness of the outside world.

Ch Ch Ch Ch Ch Changes
I feel overwhelmed. So many new things going on in my life, that I don't know where to start!!
As you know, I've been knee-deep in summer projects in my home. Nothing completed yet, but that's OK, I can live with the house upside down for as long as it takes. I was going to rip up the carpets yesterday, but realized at last minute hubby couldn't be here when I take it up due his severe dust allergies and his asthma. (That I'll have to tackle on a day he's at work ALL DAY LONG!)
I just recently celebrated my 38th birthday on June 28th. Spent most of the day with OS & his GF browsing thrift stores and antique shops. Picked up a few good deals. That evening, hubby and I had dinner at my fave Chinese Restaurant...the perfect ending to an amazing day...until we got back home. My Aunt Lynette left a message for me to call back ASAP. When I returned her call she told me that Uncle Woodie (her brother) had passed away just a few hours earlier. I immediately threw some clothes in a bag and began making lists for the family so everyone knew what needed to be done around the house and who needed to be where at what time. Was going to head out that night, but Aunt Terri (Woodie's wife) told me to wait until morning so that I wouldn't be traveling alone at night. (This was the 2nd important male figure in my life to pass away on my birthday...the first being my Dad.)
After I returned home from Georgia 5 days later, my inbox was overloaded with 1200+ pieces of mail!! Most of them I deleted without a 2nd glance, but then noticed one from a friend asking if I'd be interested in designing and selling in her new store. I immediately said YES!! (Will give more details on store details later...) Though I've been dabbling & piddling with designing new kits for the past few months, it's been a while since I've done it full-time, so not sure how this will effect my creativity or what this will mean to my summer projects for our home, but gonna give it my best!!
This brings me to my final thought for today...since this is starting a new chapter in my life, it's time I update the look of my blog and revamp my designing name and logo. I've got something in the works, and will reveal it in the next few days or so. So keep your eyes open for the new changes.

Taking A Break
You may have noticed a few changes to my blog recently...Due to personal reasons at home, I have to take a break from designing/selling for a little while. However, I'll still be around updating with my latest scrap pages and what's going on in my life.
For those that love my designs, never fear, this is only a temporary break.

A Week Later...
And I finally had enough strength to take a bath and wash my hair. I feel much better, but by the time I dried my hair and put on a clean gown, it drained me of all of my energy.
Yesterday I managed to do 2 loads of dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and put them away with the help of Kat...but again, afterwards it drained me of all of my energy.
I'm able to eat again, and now am craving pizza. (Hubby will be home soon and I'm hoping to convince him to call in an order...if not, then I have no idea what I'll be eating tonight. *giggles*)
The only things that remains of whatever this is that has put a whooping on me is an annoying cough and the occasional dizzy spell. It's like I have this scratchy, tickling feeling in my throat and I just can't seem to make it go away. I manage to cough up something, only to have it magically appear again. *sigh* As for the dizzy spells, I'm ok if I don't stand up to fast, or try to pick something off of the floor.
Since I felt better today, I tried to do some work on my new scrapkit. It's one that has been in the works for over a month now...but due to laptop woes and recent sickness, I just wasn't able to complete. I'm actually proud of myself today...I managed to create a preview!!
I'm hoping to have it uploaded to the store soon...

12 Days Of Christmas...Gift 8 (Updates And Another LO)
I've been awake since 9:15am, and yet it is now 1pm and I'm JUST now getting online!! ARRGGHH!
My day started in a rush. OS was suppose to be at work at 9am, but we both ended up oversleeping. I woke as he came bursting through my bedroom door yelling, "LET'S GO!!" I look at the clock and moan. I get up, go to the bathroom to get ready and find 1 of 3 land mines that either one of the cats or Jack-Jack left in the doorway!! I quickly hoped one-footed to the bathroom and cleaned up.
After dropping off OS, I got back home, grabbed Kat and out the door we rushed to pay house note, drop off a package at the post office, then to Wal-Mart to pick up a few groceries and last minute gifts. By the time I got back home, it was time to fix lunch. And so...here we are!! Another day of rushing around... Yesterday was DAY 2 of the 40 Days of Scrapping Purpose at Divine Digital. My quest was to scrap the reasons why I scrap using my own color palette, 3 fonts, and a new technique. This is what I created:

12 Days Of Christmas...Gift 7 (And Another New LO!!)
After sleeping 'til noon yesterday, my body wouldn't let me rest last night, so what do you think I did to pass the time?? I SCRAPPED!! Of course, I didn't scrap just anything...I entered another challenge. This time it's the 40 Days Of Scrapping Purpose at Divine Digital. Yesterday happened to be the first day...all about The Artist Within Me.

The journaling reads:
Creating a layout goes beyond
the doodles and the swirls.
It's a way to express the thoughts I had
when I was a little girl.
Each of the items on the page
were chosen with the utmost care.
Every paper and every element
has a reason for being there.
It's not about how the page will look
filled with flowers, doodles and bees
But how well I've been able to recreate
all of my memories.

12 Days Of Christmas...Gift 2
It's day 2 and I'm a little late getting this one out today...had a very busy day yesterday buying groceries. You would think it would be a simple thing of just going to the grocery store and grabbing what we need...but not that easy when you use sale papers and coupons!! *giggles* Seriously...a total of 5 stores, but made out with enough food to last us for a month all for $82.35!!
My day ended with another trip to pick up items I found on FreeCycle. This time to Alabaster (AL)...to pick up an office chair, crafting supplies, a rug, a sailor figurine, 3 nautical pictures, 3 porcelain dolls, a 2 tier desert rack and an enormous hurricane globe. This trip was not as expected...I was given directions to the woman's house and arrived at 6:18pm. My daughter rang the doorbell, and I knocked. When no one answered the door, we went back to the car and waited...for nearly an hour. I started to get worried, thinking maybe she just had not made it home from work yet, and was still in traffic. Not having a cell phone, we left and called her from a payphone down the street. SHE WAS AT HOME THE ENTIRE TIME!! *giggles, snorts, giggles* She didn't hear us at the door, because she was upstairs doing something. We all had a great laugh out of it!! *giggles*
Today Kat and I are spending time at the Galleria in Hoover (AL) in search of THE PERFECT Christmas gifts.

Enjoying A Moment Of Silence...
I thought that all of my running around was finished on Friday, but today was worse!! ARGH!!
I've applied at several digiscrap stores to sell my designs, but haven't heard anything. Hoping that everyone is just busy with the upcoming holidays, and that I will hear something by next week.
My New Thanksgiving Kit is coming along nicely!! As of last night, I'm up to 10 BG's 4 Bows, 2 Butterflies, 2 Flowers, 3 Ribbon Wrapped Frames, 2 Lace Ribbon, 4 Silk Leaves, 1 Scrunched Ribbon, 1 Ribbon Wrap, 1 Knotted Ribbon, & 2 Tags. I've got several more things that I will be adding later tonight. Here's a sneak peek at more of the papers...
- Took OS to work at 9am
- Dropped off Kat at hospital at 11am to visit friend's mom that was having surgery this morning. (She's staying at their home for the next 3 days to help clean and cook for the family.)
- Went to bank
- Stopped at a junkyard so hubby could talk to owner about a truck
- Went to 2 different auto parts store with hubby
- Paid lights
- Paid cable
- Got exhausted at 2:30pm and came home to rest before picking up OS from work at 5pm

Continuing With The Theme...
Before receiving the news that I was being let go at Tina's store, I had been working on the November/Vintage Thanksgiving Grab Bag Kit. Since that will no longer be available in the store, I've decided to keep working on my portion and turn it into a full sized kit. Here's a sneak peek at some of papers...

My Back Yard-Idiotsville, Alabama
...this time because a door is closing. Due to time constraint, a new adventure and big changes in life and in the family, Tina will be letting all of the designers go. I completely wasn't expecting the news. Though quite shocked, and have been in tears all afternoon and evening, I can understand why she has to let us go and wish her all the best in her new adventures!!
So, from now until November 18, all of my items will be marked down 75% off as a "Moving Sale". Not sure what will happen after the 18th...if I will have a new store set up, or if I will go on hiatus for a bit...but I will keep you posted when I figure it out.

Caught Up In A Creative Whirl-Wind...And A Freebie Too!! :D
For a while, it appeared that I had dropped off the face of the Earth...but I am alive and well, and have been working my creative fanny off!! *giggles* The first part of the week I bought blushbutter's VICTORIAN WEDDING KIT so that I could participate in dustybear's QP EXCHANGE. OMGoodness...y'all just wouldn't believe how gorgeous this kit is!! To see the previews just doesn't give it justice!! Anywhoos...this is my contribution.
Once it was completed, I got caught up in creating layouts and figured it was about time I got started on some of my CT-Layouts!! *giggles* This next layout features Baby Verbena by Kathryn Balint of KBandFriends.
You would think that I would have stopped there...but NOOOO!! The creative bug bit me so hard that I created another ABOUT ME-Challenge layout - The Many Faces Of Me (Phase II-page 7...Odd & Whimsical Pictures of You & Add a Story/Stories Describing the Situations.) This is an ongoing challenge at Tina Williams Designs yahoo group hosted by Idgie. With the exception of the duck, everything is from Tina Williams Designs.
Finally, this week started "SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DESIGN" contest over at JUST FOR THE SCRAP OF IT. You know what that means--LOTS OF FREEBIES!! I'm one of 30 contestants vying for a designing position in their store. Round 1 is in full swing and I'm up against SO MANY talented artists!! You've just GOT to check them out!! This is my contribution:

Once again, another week has just flown by, and left me wondering where the time went!! Our family has finally settled back into our homeschooling routine, and I've found my time to design. (At night, of course...lol)
I'm totally blown away by all of the talented ladies that have answered my CT-Call!! I spent most of the weekend reviewing galleries and narrowing it down. Wanna know which lucky ladies were chosen...well tune in on September 20th when I make the official announcement. *giggles*
I just finished a new kit "BLUE SKIES".
Included in kit:
7 papers
3 curled edge papers
4 torn borders
4 bows
1 ribbon
3 curled ribbons
1 ribbon cluster
2 butterflies
2 butterfly clips
1 dragonfly
1 button
2 flowers
3 bent frames
2 cluster frames
The inspiration behind this kit comes from one of my favorite things to do with my daughter--lying on a blanket and watching the clouds. Drawing from the beauty above, this kit features the many shades of blue found in the sky on a sunny day.

How would you like to get this kit for free?? This Saturday, September 22nd at 8pm, I'll be hosting my very first scrap-chat at Tina Williams Chat Room. Attend the chat and you will receive the first half of the kit. Create and post a layout by September 26th to the DST Gallery, and you'll receive the second half of the kit!! HOW KEWL IS THAT?!? An entire kit FOR FREE!! Want the kit but can't attend the chat? No worries! The kit will be available in the store the following week.
**Special thanks to Tina Williams Designs, Kathryn Mhire, Laura Burger of EclecticDigitalDesigns, Sandra Adamson (AKA-SeAScrApS), and to Maria LaFrance in the making of this kit**

Sharing A Few Photos...
Was sitting here uploading photos from Kat's camera and thought I'd share a few...
Yesterday, after we got back from Kat's Driver's Ed class, I took a few photos of Kat's anime-style hair and her jeans covered in anime art. Of course, a few of our fur-babies had to get in the photos too!! *giggles*

Are You SURE It's Saturday??
Where has the time gone? Seems like yesterday it was Tuesday, and now look...an entire week has flown by!!
I'm happy to announce that I've received numerous responses for the CT-Call, and now in the difficult stage of narrowing it down...
On the homeschooling front, things are going well!! We've finally started falling into a nice routine and I can start relaxing a bit. Kat's first Driver's Ed class was yesterday. Not sure I'm happy with the fact she is old enough to learn how to drive...she's the baby of the family and I'm not ready to let her go!! As for the rest of her studies, she's doing great...HOWEVER...she definitely did not get her mom's passion for math!! ROFL!! Seems like it's going to be a LONG year in learning algebra. *SIGH*
With me being so involved with the homeschooling this week, my creativity and designs had to
take a back seat temporarily. Kind of hard for your muse to flow with ideas when your wrangling a 15 year old into learning 5a + 3 = 20. I did get a little break to create a layout when Kat was in her Driver's Ed class and came up with BEST BUDS. Don't know how she does it...lol...but these photos of Kat lying on the floor with Fred were taken by her!!

Spooky Things Are About...
HOMESCHOOLING:
Well, it was a slow day on the homeschooling front. Though we had the appropriate books, a daily schedule planned, and even got off to an early start, things just didn't go as smoothly as hoped. However, it was to be expected...it's the same thing every year!! LOL
TRICKS N TREATS:
Halloween is just around the corner...the night where ghosts and goblins, witches & monsters roam our neighborhoods. To help you scrap those scary photos that you'll be accumulating, I've created a kit filled with spooky papers, ghoulish elements & a creepy alpha!!
*10 papers
*2 decorated frames
*1 pumpkin
*1 jack 'o lantern
*1 ghost
*1 skull & crossbones
*1 cat
*1 bat
*1 witch
*1 straight ribbon
*3 curled ribbons
*1 curled ribbon cluster
*1 scary tree
*1 alpha set
YOU CAN FIND IT HERE
My daughter Kat had a huge part in the creation of this kit...each of the silhouettes were hand drawn by her, scanned, and then flood-filled with solid color. We hope that you enjoy this kit as much as we did making it!!
FREEBIE:
Of course, we've created a coordinating sampler for you as well!!
*2 papers
*2 bows
*2 brads
